In recent years, the Museum of History and Art “New Jerusalem” has made more than once offered a reason to abandon everything in the capital and go to the exhibition, which “people are talking about”. As a museum, became the most accessible person in the suburbs, performing resonance exhibitions – about this in a conversation with director Anna Antipenko.
You are two hours from the capital. But the distance is not ashamed when you have young Brueghels, AB ABC of a masterpiece, now an international project, light between the world. How to achieve such success?
Anna Antipenko: This is a long way. In 2014, when we left the territory of the monastery, we received our own building, the main task arises – how to position ourselves. Standing on par with the popular federal museums? Are not. We quickly realized that it was not necessary to compete with them. We are a regional museum and should take the first position in the region through the great names of the artists will appear at temporary exhibitions. Therefore, at the first international exhibition in 2019, we showed Shagal. At the same time, there is no chagal in our meeting, but there is a common story – Jerusalem.

Without a collection of world meaningful objects, we always include our meeting in a vast context of temporary projects, attracting increasingly paying attention to our local history.
How many exhibitions in your fund?
Anna Antipenko: In our collection, 194 thousand items. It all started in the late 19th century, when the principal of the Novoyerusalem Archimandrite Leonid (Cavelin) opened the first public museum showed the personal belongings of the patriarch of the Nikon. Of course, there are more of them: after the war, the lost part – the monastery was briefly destroyed. In 1920, our museum opened the door, the monastery then stopped working. The objects of the church from some Moscow's monasteries have come to us. After that, personal collections from real estate near Moscow were distributed – urban and regional museums actually fought for them. Therefore, we have formed a collection of equipment. Archaeological objects, decorative art and applications of our area, as well as painting, graphics, rare publications since the 15th century have been received.
You have proven that the work from regional meetings may be equally interesting compared to the albums of Capital Capital with your project.
Anna Antipenko: Yes, it is a basic condition – an exhibition without the participation of urban museums. We invited 30 regional organizations and showed that the heritage was stored outside St. Of course, for all masterpieces recognized in large federal museums, there will always be interest, but new sites also need to be opened and expanded its vision. In our new project “Light between worlds”, there are two new regional museums – Jerusalem near Moscow and the Nukhuko Museum of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and as a result, it becomes an international resonant project.
You have more galleries than halls with a continuous exhibition. You are not offended by the continuous explanation that it is presented in such a small format?
Anna Antipenko: The continuous exhibition is being developed, some parts are modified over time, supplemented. So far, the permanent exhibition area is really smaller, while recently we have opened two new parts about the great patriotic war. We are preparing in the future to expose more exhibitions, including the gems of our collection. The two main topics of our standing explanation are the history of the architectural monument, the “New Jerusalem” monastery and the museum's history. The power of this place is fully revealed for us only in parallel. Rare objects are founded for the collection, saved, saved in the war, restored. We advise our visitors, even with secular art, be sure to visit the monastery.
I am sure what to look at Jerusalem?
Anna Antipenko: Of course, a collection of things related to patriarchal Nikon. Parsun “Nikon Father with a missionary” is one of the earliest works in this genre. The second topic is the car of the patriarch of Nikon, who appeared in our exhibition last year. This exhibition – Kolymag,, because calling it more accurate, has suffered a lot during the war years. A first model of a crew in the mid -18th century – no more than ten people known in the world. The skin parts and roofs on Kolymag have been completely lost, we collected the wheel bits. Everything has been restored according to archive documents. If we talk about painting, I will call our Konstantin Gorbatov collection. The largest in the world – we received it in the 20th century from St. Petersburg, from the Academy of Arts. In our continuous exhibition, as I said, we plan to expand, we will try to show more complete than Konstantin Gorbatov. At temporary exhibitions, his work always brings some feelings about a vacation, the sun. Gorbatov is an artist who can only find details with us.
The music festival expanded “Summer. Music. Museum”, will open on July 9, which is another reason to visit “the new Jerusalem”. How will your festival are different from people across Russia? Why do you need to go?
Anna Antipenko: You need to find beauty. This year, the eighth time, we are building a huge scene and the hall, this time is 1600 seats, outdoors, next to our architectural pearl – a monastery. The theme of this year's festival is a great patriotic war. The art director of the Dmitry Yurovsky festival chose a program about music composers working for a difficult time. Our permanent residence is the State Symphony Orchestra named after Evgeny Svetlanov. The new name this year is the orchestra and performer of the new opera. We have invited the world famous violinist Vadim Repin – he will open a festival with a series of music to the film of Mikhail Lermontov “Masquerade”. The last day of the festival is devoted to the anniversary days – Maxim Dunaevsky and Isaac Dunaevsky. And, by the way, according to the tradition of the festival, guests, to concerts, will be able to visit all our temporary exhibitions and exhibitions in the same ticket.
