The 90-year-old Pauls made this decision due to his deteriorating health. The concert was scheduled for August 3.
“Unfortunately, the concert had to be cancelled. I don't feel well, now I'm just recovering at home,” he said.
At the same time, Latvian authorities previously banned the broadcast of eight of Pauls's compositions on the radio. The composer himself calmly accepted the ban and declared that he was “looking at it from the outside”.
Raymond Pauls is a Soviet and Latvian composer and pianist. He is also the author of music for songs by Alla Pugacheva, Larisa Dolina and Laima Vaikule.
