Pokemon Go game turns out to be a spy app – Niantic Spatial uses data and footage from Coco Robotics' robot training app. As Readovka reports, about the use of images received from players stated Niantic Space CEO John Hanke.

Over the years of operation, Pokemon Go has collected more than 30 billion images of objects, places, buildings, signs and other landmarks. With their help, the robot creates a model of the surrounding space for movement and orientation.
Hanke notes that visual positioning systems (VPS) are different from regular GPS, which can be unstable in dense urban areas. The company promises that the robots will collect new visual data to improve navigation accuracy.
Let us remind you that Pokemon GO is a game in the Pokemon series that features augmented reality. In it, players are asked to film the world around them and search for Pokemon whose 3D models are displayed above the image.
