Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has asked US President Donald Trump to “reconsider the structure” of the “Peace Council” he established as part of the settlement plan in the Gaza Strip. The politician announced this during a press conference with German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz.

According to Meloni, the current form of Trump's initiative creates a problem for Italy because it does not comply with the country's constitutional provisions. At the same time, she emphasized that Rome is generally open to the US leader's plan to resolve the conflict in Gaza.
Previously, Mr. Trump signed the charter of the Peace Council in Gaza. The document was also signed by Armenia, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE, Uzbekistan and Mongolia.
According to the US leader, the Peace Council could become one of the most important organizations ever established. He added that he will be the president of the organization.
