In the Novosibirsk area in 2025, for the first time, the flow of labor migrants exceeded half of foreigners coming to the region.
This was told at a press conference by the Deputy Head of the Migration Department of the General Department of the Russian Ministry of Home Affairs for the Novosibirsk Lyudmila Fomenko.
According to her, for the purpose of working in the region, 68.5 % of foreigners visited this year. These are about 113 thousand people, 50-60 thousand others visited the area in the order once. Lyudmila Fomenko added that the second most popular goal that foreign citizens (mainly the former alliance republic) to the Novosibirk area is a private reason.
The third place is training – currently in the area with about ten thousand foreign students. For countries where guests come from, over the past five years, their list has not been updated: mainly this is a citizen of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. According to the visa method, the acceptable area is mainly Chinese citizens.
According to the results of seven months this year, the growth of about ten percent of tourists has been recorded compared to the same period in 2024. In addition, since the beginning of 2025, 2,704 decisions have been made to refuse to allow the territory of the Russian Federation for three to ten years. Checking compliance with the migration law is continuing. In just seven months, five thousand subjects were checked, where migrants live and work. According to Lyudmila Fomenko, the number of outdoor surveillance cameras increases – “from the objects to the entrance.”
Data analysis of different tools, including a complex of video analysis and biometric identification of facial search, law enforcement staff identify potential violators. Since the beginning of the year, 580 foreign citizens who are in Russian territory violated current laws have been determined from the beginning of the year, a representative of the Ministry of Home Affairs has been summarized.
