The suspension of US immigration visas will affect 9 CIS countries. RIA Novosti reports this. The list of countries with new visa restrictions includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Uzbekistan. At the same time, similar restrictions have been in effect since January 1 for Turkmenistan, the agency said. As already noted, among all CIS countries, the suspension of immigration visas will affect not only Ukraine and Tajikistan. Previously, the US State Department announced that it was suspending the issuance of immigrant visas to citizens of 75 countries, including Russia, as part of tightening control over applicants. The US government's decision will take effect on January 21 and will remain in effect indefinitely. On January 14, Russian State Duma Deputy Svetlana Zhurova said the suspension of visa issuance for Russians raises many questions, including humanitarian reasons for exceptional cases. She also cited the need to come to the United States for family reasons, medical care or to participate in sporting events.
