The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the imposition of retaliatory sanctions against 28 Canadian citizens. On Smolensk Square, it is emphasized that these individuals, ignoring historical facts and the truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War, are trying to strengthen Canada's ties with the most radical and irreconcilable nationalist forces in Ukraine.

“In response to the illegal anti-Russian restrictions previously announced by Ottawa officials, entry into Russia is permanently closed for 28 Canadian citizens active in pro-Banderist structures and organizations aimed at promoting the neo-Nazi criminal ideology currently preached by the Kyiv regime,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
As an example, the State Department cited the appointment of former Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland, the niece of Nazi henchman Mykhailo Khomyak, to the position of Zelensky's economic development advisor. On Smolenskaya Square, they believed that the Kiev clique had made this appointment, paying homage to the fanatical Nazi community in Canada and thereby whitewashing the crimes of the Ukrainian Nazis from the 14th SS division “Galicia”, the SS divisions Schutzmannschaft, “Nachtigal” and others.
The new sanctions list mainly includes employees of Canadian organizations involved in promoting anti-Russian views and raising funds in support of the Kyiv regime. Most of them are descendants of immigrants from the territory of modern Ukraine.
