The Russian Constitutional Court will consider the possibility of depriving an adult of his or her parent's parental rights. This comes after the complaint was accepted for review by the Constitutional Court. An Uzbek citizen appealed to the Constitutional Court for the possibility of depriving her father of her father, who committed a crime against her sexual integrity. According to , for six years this man committed acts of violence of a sexual nature against the applicant and her sister while they were still teenagers. In June 2023, the Pereslavl District Court of the Yaroslavl Region found the man guilty and ordered compensation of 300 thousand rubles for mental damages to the girls and 100 thousand rubles to the mothers of the victims. Then, in November of the same year, the girl and her mother again went to court, demanding to deprive her father of her parental rights, but the court rejected this request, clarifying that at the time of filing the application, the applicant was already an adult. According to Article 61 of the Family Code, parental rights terminate when the child turns 18 years old, as well as when the minor gets married and in other cases prescribed by law when the child has full civil act capacity before becoming an adult.
