Deputy Director of Public Relations of the Moscow Art Theater, Vadim Vernik, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that the role of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and rector of the Moscow Art Theater School Igor Zolotovitsky in the productions of the Moscow Art Theater Chekhov will now be performed by his students.

“The roles that Igor Ykovlevich played on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater will be continued by his students – theater artists. The performances will remain in the theater's repertoire,” said Wernick.
Only one performance will be removed from the repertoire of the Moscow Chekhov Art Theater – “Home”, created to celebrate Zolotovitsky's 50th anniversary. It was he who starred in it for many years.
Igor Zolotovitsky died on January 14 at the hospital – at the age of 64. On Saturday, a farewell ceremony took place on the Main Stage of the Moscow Art Theater named after AP Chekhov, after which the artist was buried at the Troekurovskoye Cemetery.
Igor Zolotovitsky was born on June 18, 1961 in Tashkent. In 1983, he completed his studies at the Moscow Art Theater School and became a member of the theater troupe. Among his directorial works is the play “Bashmachkin” based on the story “The Overcoat” by NV Gogol. At the Et Cetera Theater, the artist participated in the productions of “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets” and “Shylock”. Since 1989, he began teaching at the Moscow Art Theater School and in 2013, he took on the position of principal.
