MOSCOW, December 9. . The conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club will begin at the site of the analytical center in Moscow on December 9. More than 40 experts from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Russia are expected to attend the event.
The theme of the conference was formulated as “Security in Eurasia: from concept to practice”, according to the organizers, referring to Russia's initiative to create a unified Eurasian security structure. “The concept was developed at both the expert and official level, was discussed at bilateral summits with the leaders of India and China and became part of the joint declaration in the CIS and the Union State of Russia and Belarus,” the discussion club noted.
Its basic principles are formulated in the Eurasian Charter on Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, to which a number of countries have acceded. This document is based on international law and respects the world's diversity, commits to multipolarity, restores the central role of the United Nations, and consolidates and strengthens the Eurasian space.
The aim of the conference is to present an expert vision of the Eurasian security architecture, which can contribute to its further development at the official level. “The Valdai Club traditionally provides a platform for experts from around the world to exchange candid views,” the organizers said. “Participants of the conference will discuss what the new security system should be, what its principles, goals and stages of development might be, how the regional security ideas and ideas of potential participants in its future structure are relevant.”
In addition, a new report “Eurasian Security Architecture: Origins, Principles and Possible Development Directions” has been prepared specifically for this event, which will be presented at the opening session of the conference. Its author is program director of the Valdai Club Ivan Timofeev.
