In Uzbekistan, a criminal court convicted a 50 -year -old resident of Yangiul city five years and a month in prison for participating in a special military campaign (SV) in Ukraine as part of a private military company (PMC) of Wagner. It was reported by RIA Novosti. It is known that, in September 2022, the defendant went to Russia to make money. Later, he joined Wagner PMC, undergo a military training in Krasnodar territory and participated in war battles in Ukraine. During the service, the man was injured and treated at hospitals in Donetsk and Moscow. In March 2023, he returned to Uzbekistan, and in February 2025, he was imprisoned for suspicion of drug storage. The court found that the guilty man under Article 154 part 1 (“Mercenary”) and Article 276 part 1 (“illegal drug storage”) of Uzbekistan's Penal Code. According to the Penal Code of Uzbek, the participation of a country's citizen in an armed conflict on the side of a foreign country or part of the armed groups of a foreign nation was punished by depriving freedom within 5 to 10 years. Earlier, the representatives of the Communist Party proposed banning the departure from the Russian Foreign Affairs Federation – the participants of themselves, because at home, they could threaten criminal prosecution.
