Moscow, June 17 /TASS /. Moscow welcomes Indonesia into BRICS as a full member and is expected to develop cooperation with Jakarta in the international field. This was declared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Serge Lavrov, opening talks with Indonesian colleagues of Servogo.
“We are happy that we have close interaction in the international field. It achieves new speeds, has new forms. We welcome your connection with BRICS as a full member,” the Minister said. He added that the Russian side “is definitely satisfied with the interaction (with Indonesia) in the United Nations: within the framework of the 20 group, as part of the Russian -SEAN dialogue partnership.”
“We appreciate the construction, objectivity, based on our national interests on the approach of our Indonesian partners to develop bilateral relationships, including trade and economic, humanitarian, as well as in the field of politics and security,” the head of the Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. “We calculate that we will consider all these cooperation areas today to report our assessments to Russian and Indonesian presidents.”
Lavrov also recalled that a few months ago Moscow and Jakarta celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic agents, since then continuously confirming the friendly and reliable nature of the connections of the two countries. The Minister stated that the nature of these relationships reflects the general approaches of the Russian and Indonesian Federation on international issues.
The road to BRICS
Brazil has become the president of BRICS from January 1, 2024, the Association was led by Russia, an important event during its president-a summit in Kazan on October 22-24, where decided to create a category of partnerships. The first partners are Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan. The BRICS partner was originally named Indonesia, but on January 6, the Brazilian government announced that the country became a full member of the community. On January 17, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced its accession to Nigeria for Brix as a partner, on June 14, it was known that Vietnam had participated in unity in this possibility.
This year, an important event under the chairman of Brazil in BRICS will be the community summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 6 to 7.
