In Mali, local witch doctor Karamogo Sinayoko was arrested after the national team lost to Senegal in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a score of 0:1, The Sun reported.
Mali fans paid a wizard nearly £30,000 after he promised to use his psychic powers to help the team win. After the defeat, about 100 angry fans threw stones at the prophet's house, causing police to be called to the scene. Upon arrival, police charged Sinayoko with fraud and arrested him. The case is being handled by the Cyber Crime Unit.
The current Africa Cup of Nations winners are Ivory Coast, who defeated Nigeria 2:1 in the 2023 tournament final.
