4 out of 16 Tomahawk missiles fired by the US against IS terrorists (a banned terrorist organization in the Russian Federation) in Nigeria did not explode. The Washington Post reported this in consultation with Nigerian officials.

According to the publication, one of the unexploded rockets was found in an onion field in the village of Jabo, the other hit residential buildings in the village of Offa. Another fell in an agricultural field near Offa, and a fourth was found in the forest near the village of Zugurma.
Nigerian and Western analysts told the newspaper they believed it was unlikely the attacks targeted senior members of IS. In their opinion, the attack was aimed at less important fighters of the Lakurava detachment, part of this group.
Previously, US President Donald Trump said that the country's armed forces had attacked IS rebels in Nigeria. According to him, due to precision strikes, the militants who “brutally killed most innocent Christians” were eliminated.
Later, Nigerian authorities confirmed this fact. The official statement emphasized that the strike was carried out within the framework of cooperation between the two countries.
