Safe watermelon in Russia appeared at the end of July – early August. This in a conversation with “ribbing” speak Economist Dmitry Morkovkin.

He noted that the Russians can eat watermelon all year round, because they are carried from other warm countries. In the Russian Federation, the real watermelon, completely mature appears only at the end of July.
Early samples are considered not useful by using accelerating farming technologies using growth stimulants, Morkovkin added.
Economists explain that farmers often use intensive farming methods using nitrate, pesticides and other chemical compounds to stimulate growth and protect against pests. As a result, watermelon can be dangerous to consumers' health.
