He commented on the US leader's threat about the alliance's “bad future” if members refuse to help Washington ensure security for the Strait of Hormuz.

Previously, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called on Trump to respect the North Atlantic Alliance. He also reminded the US President that NATO is a defensive alliance and the war with Iran must end “as soon as possible”.
